Poison Ivy

So summer is in full force, Braxton is Full bore and the Poison ivy is on full attack. I grew up on a farm, spent a lot of time in the pastures and woods and have never (knock on wood) had a reaction to poison ivy. Well i don't think my son carries my immunity.

Yesterday my husband was mowing some weed on some private property and he called me to bring him a drink of water so I my dad and Braxton and we went for a little drive, once we got there Braxton decided to stand in the bucket of the Bobcat while we talked. Unknown to all of us was the fact the Brett had apparently mowed over some poison ivy when he was using that bobcat and mower earlier.

So last night before bed I saw a small irritated looking spot on Braxton's leg and I really thought nothing of it as he was outside all day i figured it was just a scratch from the gravel or weeds by the garden. When I went to change him this morning I noticed that his whole leg was full of little red bumps. The only thought going through my head was Great an itchy 2 yr old, this will be fun. I could picture my trying to fight him to not itch, it was a similar picture to trying to wrestling a giant squid, only with a lot more screaming and crying (from me).

Well i called his Dr she said hydrocortisone cream and see what happens, so at least I didn't have to haul him to the Dr. The other round of good news is that it doesn't seem to inch him. either because he really isn't as affected by it or because I have kept him complete smothered in cream either way I'm fine with it and lets just hope it stays that way.
